Emerald Isle

Emerald Isle –  “A Family Beach” where people from all over reunite on our beautiful beaches year after year. 12 miles of white sandy beach, emerald waters & crystal blue skies describes the relatively undiscovered Emerald Isle. Experience all that the beautiful Atlantic Ocean has to offer –  surf, pier or charter boat fishing, jet skiing, surfing, windsurfing or diving. Enjoy golf, tennis, kayak tours, mini-golf, unique shopping, and a variety of restaurants. For those just wanting to relax, there's nothing better than taking long walks on the beach or just sitting on the deck enjoying the wonderful ocean breezes. Click here for more photos

Emerald Isle has much to offer for year-round residents as well as vacationers.

l  Schools are nearby White Oak Elementary in neighboring Cape Carteret,  Broad Creek Middle and Croatan High just a few miles east in Broad Creek. Cedar Point is also about mid-way between 2 excellent community colleges. About 20 minutes away in Jacksonville is Coastal Carolina Community College. Located in Morehead City, Carteret Community College also offers several classes at Western Carteret Library in neighboring Cape Carteret.

l  You don’t have to go off island for medical care, Emerald Isle Primary Care is right on Hwy 58 in the heart of town. There are other medical facilities in nearby Cedar Point, Cape Carteret and Swanbsoro, and we’re near 2 hospitals, Onslow Memorial in Jacksonville and Carteret General in Morehead City.

l  There are a variety of stores available right on the island, including Food Lion, and many great gift stores, beach shops, a dollar store and Salvation Army Thrift Store.

l  What would the beach be without great seafood restaurants? There’s Jordan’s House of Seafood, Rucker John’s, Bushwacker’s and Tortugas, to name a few. Most offer a variety besides seafood. There’s also Mimi’s Dessert Shoppe, Dairy Queen and Ben & Jerry’s.

You come to the beach for rest & recreation right? Start with the beach of course – the town has several access points that can be found on their website here, including information on free surf lessons,  Bogue Inlet Pier has great fishing, and Island Harbor Marina offers much including charter boats like the Jeannie III. Off the water, sort of, visit Playland with  8 water slides, 18 hole miniature golf course, bumper boats & cars, slick & grand prix tracks, and kiddie rides. There’s also Emerald Isle Speedway at the Holiday Trav-l-Park, and a new miniature golf course between Hwy 58 (Emerald Drive)  and Reed Drive.
