Boating & fishing are in our backyard, since Cape Carteret borders Bogue Sound and the Intracoastal Waterway. Beach or ocean access is nearby, each a short drive or trip by boat. The town provides a pier at the end of Anita Forte Street, and there are public boat ramps available nearby on the Intracoastal Waterway and the White Oak River. |

Although located near several large municipalities and associated shopping facilities, Cape Carteret continues to offer easy living and lots of recreational activities. l A K-5 elementary school is centrally located in town with middle and high schools nearby (White Oak Elementary, Broad Creek Middle and Croatan High). Cape Carteret is also about mid-way between 2 excellent community colleges. About 20 minutes away in Jacksonville is Coastal Carolina Community College. Located in Morehead City, Carteret Community College also offers several classes at Western Carteret Library in Cape Carteret. l Medical care provided by local doctors & dentists including an urgent medical care center l Cape Carteret Aquatic & Wellness Center offers a full service gym, with a variety of programs including temporary rates for visitors. l Banking assistance is offered at branches of RBC Centura and First Citizens banks.
